ArianeGroup has pooled its Ottobrunn quality control activities, previously separately located around the site, to create a dedicated Quality Inspection Center, an integral part of the production process. The new 600 m² building was officially opened on 10 March 2023.
ArianeGroup’s Ottobrunn site is primarily concentrated on developing and producing parts for Ariane rocket engines.
The Smart Factory approach enables ArianeGroup to optimize quality control processes for launcher components produced in Ottobrunn, which include combustion chambers and their cryogenic valves, in order to accelerate industrial processes and support Ariane 6 production ramp-up, while significantly reducing costs.
Intelligent quality control and smart supply chain logistics are vital for being able to respond to the significant demand for Ariane 6 launchers over the next years. Quality control is a crucial element in the Ariane 6 industrial process and guarantees that the launcher’s components are perfectly constructed in every detail, and can be certified as in compliance with the strictest aerospace standards.
